Winemaking Lalvin Yeast
Lalvin has been making great wine yeast for many years. Lalvin yeast is a trusted staple for winemakers on many levels, from small home winemakers to huge commercial wineries. Lalvin wine yeast comes in dried form. Some winemakers just sprinkle the yeast on the surface of the must and others go through the process of rehydration before being pitched into the must. In our experience, it does not make much difference on the homewinemaking level.
Lalvin yeast strains are also very popular with mead makers, particularly the Lalvin 71b and Lalvin D47. For dry red wines we are fond of Lalvin D-254.
