Wine Racks for Homemade Wine

Wine racks are useful pieces of equipment for any winemaker. Besides having a practical place to store your wine in one place, wine racks allow you to store your wine bottles their sides. This is important for bottles that are sealed with a wine cork. Wine corks (excluding polymer corks) will shrink when not kept moist. The wine in the bottle will wet the cork keeping it expanded and creating a good seal that keeps the wine in the bottle and oxidizing air out of the bottle.

This does not apply to bottles that are sealed with a screw cap or bottles sealed with polymer corks.
