Degassers

Winemaking- Degassers

The Grape and Granary sells several degassing mechanisms that allow you to bottle your wine without fizz. All wine kits that we are familiar with will recommend degassing the wine just prior to bottling to prevent this fizz.

The fact that wine made from wine kits is bottled in a relatively short time (4-8 weeks) does not allow enough time for all of the gas to naturally dissipate. So, a mechanical method of driving out this trapped gas is important. Wine made from fresh grapes or fresh juice is often aged for 6-12 months before bottling so there is time for this co2 gas to dissipate naturally.

You can attached these degassers to a drill and run the degasser in the wine to drive out the gas. Taste the wine prior to bottling to ensure you don't taste any fizz. Then the wine can be bottled.
