Winemaking Screw Caps

The Grape and Granary sells a number of sizes of screw caps for various purposes. The most common screw cap is the 28 mm screw cap which fits many screw cappable wine bottles. The 28mm screw cap is sold as metal, plastic or a commerical grade 'saranex lined' cap. We find that all of these caps work well for wine bottles.

The other common screw cap is the 38 mm screw cap. It is used for 1/4 gallon, 1/2 gallon and 1 gallon jugs (or growlers). This size cap is also available in plastic or metal. There is also a plastic version available with a hole that will accept an airlock so that the jug can be used as a fermenter.
