Winemaking Wine Bottles

The Grape and Granary sells a wide selection of wine bottles (both cork finish and screw cap finish). We have found over the years that wines bottled in a screw cap bottle tend to be slower to mature but at the same time, the wine tends to have longer longevity. Wines bottled in cork finish bottles and corked, tend to mature more quickly but don't last as long until the wine goes 'over the hill'.

If you are using a cork finish wine bottle, you will need to use a straight wine cork and you will need a corking machine to insert them. Once the bottle is corked, you will want to stand the bottle upright for a few days to allow the cork to expand and create a good seal and then you will want to lay the bottle down on its' side to keep the cork moist and expanded so the bottle does not leak.
