Winemaking Wine Enhancers and Conditioners
Wine enhancers or conditioners are things that can be added to a wine to improve its overall character, smooth out the mouthfeel or increase the body. Wine conditioner is a concentrated sugar solution with sorbate already added to prevent renewed fermentation.
Finishing formula or Glycerine added to a thin wine (especially fruit wines) will add body to a wine and a touch of perceived sweetness. Super Smoother is a combination of glycerine and oak flavoring and many people swear by it. A concentrated grape concentrate (either red or white) can be added to increase the body of a wine and is added during fermentation- or -it can add sweetness by adding it at bottling time (be sure to add sorbate to prevent renewed fermentation).
