This Coffee Stout is an extension of our wildly popular dry stout recipe. English roasted barley and roasted coffee are prominent in the aroma and flavor. We include 1/3 lb of our own home roasted high quality espresso coffee beans to the batch. The fresh roasted coffee accentuates the coffee notes already present in the base beer style for an over-the-top roasted aroma complexity. Crystal malt, flaked barley and lactose build up the body to balance the roasted flavors.
The kit includes malt syrup, dry malt, roasted grains, flaked barley, lactose, steeping grains, steeping sock, pellet hops, priming sugar, Safale s-04 dry yeast, freshly roasted coffee beans and instructions. It requires a 45 minute boil and makes 5 US gallons. If you desire to use liquid yeast we recommed Wyeast #1084. Anticipated SG 1.070, SRM 32, IBU 45, and 7.0% ABV.
