A medium bodied 'steam' style ale with crystal malts and Northern Brewer hops. This recipe very closely approximates Anchor Steam. Northern brewer hops provide the piney, woody character which blends well with the caramel malts.
This kit includes malt syrup, dry malt extract, steeping grains, steeping socks, pellet hops, dry yeast, priming sugar, Whirlfloc tablet and instructions. It require a 35-45 minute boil. Makes 5 US gallons. If you prefer to use liquid yeast we recommend Wyeast #2112. This recipe received a Silver Certificate in the AHA regionals. Statistics are Est OG 1.049, Est SRM 11, Est IBU'S 43. Potential Alcohol 4.9 ABV.
