Bred from Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Spalt for disease resistance, Spalter Select was released in 1991 by the Hop Research Center of Hüll and quickly became very popular with German brewers.
Spalter Select’s excellent sensory profile - in much the same vein as Spalt, Tettnang, and Saaz - elevates any traditional lager, cold-fermented ale, Weissbier, or Belgian style. Spicy, flowery, and hoppy with prominent undertones of ripe berry and citrus, Spalter Select also carries a spice and wood character reminiscent of Spalt.
