Scottish Ale Export 80/- Shilling is cleanly malty with a drying finish. It has a bit of faint peaty earthiness (smoke). It finishes fairly dry considering the sweet upfront malt palate. The beer has a medium to low hop bitterness level from Willamette Hops. This allows the malt complexity to come through. Commercial examples are Belhaven Scottish Ale US and McEwans's Export.
The kit includes 6.6 lbs of malt syrup, steeping grains, steeping socks, pellet hops, primimg sugar, safale s-04 dry yeast, Whirlfloc Tablet, and instructions. It requires a 45 munute boil and makes 5 US gallons. If you prefer to use liquid yeast we recommend Wyeast #1728. Anticipated SG 1.052, SRM 17, IBU 22, and 5.2% ABV.
