Our German styled Schwarzbeir puts forth a rich malty sweet flavor (Munich, carafa, roasted barley and crystal) which is balanced by a chocolate finish. A moderate noble hop bitterness and flavor balance the malt backbone. Commercial examples include Samuel Adams Black Lager, Original Badebier, Einbecker Schwarzbier, Gordon Biersch Schwarzbier and Weeping Radish Black Radish Dark Lager.
The kit includes malt syrup, specialty grains, steeping sock, pellet hops, priming sugar, dry yeast, Whirlfloc tablet, and instructions. It requires a 45 minute boil and makes 5 US gallons. If you prefer to use liquid yeast we recommend Wyeast #2206 Lager or #2124. Anticipated SG 1.048, SRM 29, IBU 28, and ABV 4.8.
