English Mild ales are best described as a light bodied brown ale with lots of flavor but little alcohol. It is a beer style designed for session drinking. Our recipe meets this description by using about 4.3 pounds of malt extract along with brown, chocolate and crystal malts. East Kent Golding hops are used for bittering. Big on flavor, low in alcohol. Commercial examples are Moorhouse Black Cat, Gale’s Festival Mild and Theakston Traditional Mild.

The kit includes malt syrup, dry malt extract, steeping grains, steeping sock, pellet hops, dry yeast, priming sugar, Whirlfloc tabblet, and instructions, It requires a 35-45 minute boil. Makes 5 US gallons. Statistics are Est OG 1.035, Est SRM 20, Est IBU'S 20. Potential Alcohol 3.5 ABV.
