Hops are a key part of almost every beer style. From the lightly hopped American Style Lagers to the heavily hopped American India Pale Ale or New England India Pale Ale (NEIPA). The Grape and Granary carries a large selection of hops to create every style of beer. Whether you are recreating a world classic or creating your own unique creation, we have the hops that you will need.
Hop Pellets are easy to store and stay fresh for a long time in the freezer. They settle out easily at the end of a boil and are very easy to use when dry hopping. We use hop pellets in all of our Grape and Granary Malt Extract Brewing Kits and All-Grain brewing kits.
Cryo hops are hop pellets that are created under nitrogen. They tend to be a bit more expensive but have a relatively high alpha (bittering) content. Usually, when using cryohops, less hops overall are used and thus there is less hop material to remove after the boil and less wort is lost in the brewing process. They also tend to produce less of a 'grassy' character.
Hop Flowers are the hop cones used in beer brewing. They do not store as well as pellet hops and absorb more beer wort during the boil. Thus, they are a bit more difficult to use but there are brewers who swear they get a little better hop aroma and flavor. Putting your hop flowers in to a hop sock is a good way to contain and remove them after the boil is finished.
