The Grape and Granary offers several adjuncts needed for brewing GREAT beer. No matter which brewing adjucts you are looking for, you’ve come to the right place to find them.
Adjucts like flaked rice or flaked corn (maize) are used to lighten the flavor and heaviness of a beer without decreasing the alcohol content. A great example of this is American Style Pilsner beers (Bud, Coors etc..). Flaked barley is used in beer to increase body and head retention of a beer (think dry Irish stout or imperial stout). Flaked rye is added to impart a spicy note in some beer styles like Rye IPA. Flaked oats are used to add the silkyness to an oatmeal stout.
*Note: Adjuncts must be mashed with Base malts to convert the starch in the adjunct in to fermentable sugar.
