Grape and Granary offers a variety of dried malt extracts to help you achieve your perfect brew. We offer both Munton's Dried Malt Extract and Briess Dried Malt Extract.

Dried Malt Extract (DME) is a great way to add additional body and flavor to a home brewed beer and avoid dry, thin or cidery flavors. Using dried Malt Extract in place of corn or table sugar also helps to increase beer head retention and body. It can also be used to adjust the color of your beer and is available in both Barley and Wheat.

Additionally, it is common for brewers to use dried malt extract to make yeast starters. Many home brewers will use 1/2 pound of dme mixed with one half gallon of water to make a yeast starter. Some homebrewers find it easier to use a Propper Starter which already prepared to make a yeast starter without the extra time and work.

Briess has been creating malt extracts since 1876 and is one of the preeminent names in the brewing world. Briess Dry Malt Extracts are made in Wisconsin at a state-of-the-art 500-barrel brewing facility. Muntons has been creating malt extracts in the UK since 1921 and has earned the reputation of one of the preeminent brands in the brewing world by producing some of the world's finest malts.

Three pounds of Dried Malt Extract is equivalent to four pounds of malt syrup. One pound of dried malt extract dissolved into one gallon of water yields approximately 1.042 specific gravity. Dried dried malt extract is available in 1, 3, and 50 or 55 lb bags.
