Using fruit puree is great way to make a fruit beer. A Straining Bag is not required as there is no fruit pulp. Adding 1 – 2 cans per 5 gallon batch can create a very flavorful fruit beers. We generally recommend adding the fruit to the secondary fermenter so that the aromatics of the fruit will not be lost. We do not recommend adding fruit during the boil.
If you’re looking to add sweetness to a fruit beer, try adding a non-fermentable sugar such as lactose or even better, Ace-K into the beer prior to bottling. These sugars will not ferment and will not interfere with your priming sugar if you are using the natural fermentation process for carbonation.
