As a home distiller, using a parrot has some great advantages. The parrot will fill from the bottom up. A spirit hydromenter will be floated in the parrot. As the parrot fills and dispenses spirit in to your collecting container, you will have a running reading of the spirit exiting the parrot and still. This can be very helpful for knowing the proof of the exiting spirit which will give you a good idea of when to make cuts. We alway recommend using your nose to decide when to make cuts, but having a running reading of the proof exiting the still is super helpful.
