There are basically two ways to heat your still. It can be done with an electric hot plate or heating band, or with a flame. At the Grape and Granary, we prefer an electric source like a hotplate or heating band as there is no open flame which could start a fire. If you do want to heat the still with a flame, be careful that there is no leaking vapor coming from the still.
