Probably a combination of lots of fermentable sugars and low fermentation temps. I would hold off. Maybe rack the beer to another secondary and make sure it is clear with no activity before you bottle. Better to be patient than sorry. john I've been fermenting in my basement. it's about 65° down th...

1) Ferment cooler (warmer ferments are more violent) 2Hope this helps john I think that was it. Since the amount of water to boil is more than a standard batch it takes longer to cool (duh). I was impatient the first time around and only cooled it to 75. Cooled it to 68 this time...no problems 8)

Imperial IPA

The first time I tried this G&G kit it turned out fine in the end. However, when I had it in the primary I could not control the fermentation. It kept blowing the lid off of my 7.5 gallon bucket. I had a tube in the top of the bucket to allow blow off. The tube quickly became clogged and popped ...

Splashing it before bottling will be sufficient. john[/ quote] And spoil your beer. oxygen introduced into beer is very bad. Go to Brew your own by john palmer and read everything! I'm actually quite pleased with the way it turned out. I didn't really splash that much. I just let it make a little n...

Will it be enough to let it splash when I rack right before bottling? Or does it need to sit for a while after that?

Sulfur smell??

On 3/13 I brewed a batch of G&G American Pale Ale. I used Wyeast #1056. It took about 36 hours for the yeast to get going and when it finally did it seemed a little lethargic. I let it go until 3/19 and then proceeded to rack it to the secondary. As I was racking I noticed a slight sulfury smell...

Stone Brewing Co. Clones?

I was wondering if anyone knew of clones available for Arrogant Bastard or Ruination IPA. If they are available is this something I could purchase as a malt extract kit from G&G?
