Homebrewing Fruit Products

Using fruit puree is easy way to make a tasty homebrewed fruit beer. A Straining Bag is not required as there is no fruit pulp. Adding one or two (46 oz) cans per 5 gallons of beer can create a wonderful tasting fruit beer. We generally recommend adding the fruit to the secondary fermenter so that the aromatics of the fruit will not be lost with the escaping co2 from the primary fermentation. We do not recommend adding fruit during the boil as it can set the pectins in the fruit and lead to a cloudy looking beer.

If you’re looking to add sweetness to a fruit beer, try adding a non-fermentable sugar such as lactose or  Ace-K into the beer prior to bottling. These sugars will not ferment and will not interfere with your priming sugar if you are using the natural fermentation process for carbonation.
