Yes, that is correct. You can think of red wines as ales and white wine as lagers. Many wineries will allow the red wines to reach 85 deg or so during the primary to bring out more complexity/esters. White wines are usually fermented below 65 to bring out just the grape variety.

I finally got around to trying my 1st wine.
The vinters reserve coastal red (now about 2 yrs. old) looked good with no browning, smelled, and tasted good.
It's on it's way. 1.072 starting gravity. All setup in my normal 6.5 brewing bucket, filled to 6 gal. with a blow off tube on the airlock. The entire bucket is in the bathtub with the shower door closed, just in case.
